Component 2 - Analyses of Policies, Institutions and Support Services

Institutions and Support Services of the Fisheries Sector

Every country under review has had policies on fisheries as part of agricultural policy, even in the early years when the fishery sector was not as important as agriculture and other industrial sectors. In general, many of those policies were regulatory, institutional, and enforcement specific. The role of institutions and support services in fisheries and aquaculture was discussed in nine Asian countries, namely Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. Below is a summary of the country reports submitted by the partners.

Bangladesh
China
India
Indonesia
Malaysia
Philippines
Sri Lanka
Thailand
Vietnam
