Scope and Main Activities
The study will require collaborative work among teams of fisheries specialists, economists, and extension workers and experts from other relevant disciplines from nine DMCs – Bangladesh, PR China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam – coordinated by the Center. The nine countries produce more than 25 percent of the world fish catch and supply nearly 90 percent of world aquaculture demand. The fish production of these countries represents more than 80 percent of the production by ADB's DMCs. The research covers the following major activities:
  • Profile of Key Aquaculture Technologies and Fishing Practices
  • Analysis of Policies, Institutional Environment and Support Services to Aquaculture and Fisheries
  • Socioeconomic Profile of Major Stakeholders (Producers, Consumers and Traders) in Fisheries and Aquaculture
  • Analysis of Fish Supply and Demand and Projections
  • National Action Plans
