Department of Fisheries, Bangladesh
The Department of Fisheries (DOF), under the administrative control of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, is a frontline government agency focused on fisheries development in Bangladesh. The DOF formulates and implements development programs for the sustainable utilization of the country’s fisheries resources. The DOF assists the administrative ministry to formulate relevant policies, disseminates improved technologies through training and extension services, enforces quality control and health safety measures for fish products, and maintains a national fisheries database. The DOF also facilitates increased credit and income-generating opportunities for sector stakeholders.
