The need for transition is pressing. The world is changing; the climate crisis has become acute. The vision’s goal of the Nordic Region as the most sustainable region in the world is an important tool for achieving the climate goals in the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal. Together, Vision 2030 and the EU climate plan for 2030 set out a clear and distinct direction for our work.

A webinar hosted by Global Action Network Sustainable Food from the Oceans and Inland Waters for Food Security and Nutrition as part of the programme of the Norwegian presidency in the Nordic Council of Ministers will showcase the value of Nordic cooperation, an intergovernmental Nordic forum for cooperation in the Nordic region, related to sustainable food systems - from healthy waters to healthy people- sharing experiences and lessons learned.

Via the framework of the United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2025), the discussions will center on two of several policy areas, 'Fisheries and Aquaculture' and 'Food,' partners under the Global Action Network, including WorldFish, Norwegian Ministry of Trade Industry and Fisheries and World Health Organization will come together to gain and share knowledge from global perspectives to mobilize actions on sustainable aquatic foods for food security and nutrition.

As part of our commitments to Nordic Council of Ministers's vision, WorldFish's Global Lead for Nutrition and Public Health, Shakuntala Thilsted, will take part in the session to moderate and exchange dialogue on the role of aquatic foods from ocean systems for food, nutrition and livelihood security via the frameworks of WorldFish's '2030 Research and Innovation Strategy' and CGIAR's 'Resilient Aquatic Foods for Healthy People and Planet.'

Stay up to date with the latest information by following WorldFish and the hashtag #aquaticfoods to join the virtual dialogue on Twitter.

We look forward to your active participation.
