WorldFish and SPRING Bangladesh signed a Letter of Collaboration (LOC) on Wednesday 08 August, signifying their commitment to work together to improve the nutritional status of women and young children in the Barisal and Khulna divisions.
The collaboration will help promote the consumption and sale of nutrient-rich small fish species and seasonal vegetables, and will benefit close to 72,000 households from 12 upazils in the divisions.
Regional Director of WorldFish for Bangladesh and South Asia, William J. Collis, and the Country Manager of SPRING Bangladesh, Ms. Elizabeth Isimhen, came together to sign the LOC and pledge their commitment to work together towards improving the health of thousands of nutritionally vulnerable women and children.
WorldFish and SPRING share the common goal to improve health and nutrition through aquaculture, and will combine their resources to achieve this in Bangladesh.
The agreed areas of collaboration include assistance with training, sharing of data and materials related to fish and horticultural interventions, and nutrient analysis of food items.
SPRING will work together with WorldFish on its projects within the Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia, Bangladesh and Feed the Future to ensure an efficient use of resources, and effective program implementation.
WorldFish, a member of the CGIAR Consortium, is an international, non-profit research organization dedicated to reducing poverty and hunger by improving fisheries and aquaculture.

Signing the LOC between WorldFish and SPRING (L to R): Dr. Shakuntala Haraksingh Thilsted, Ms. Elizabeth Isimhen Williams, Mr. Md. Ali Reja, Mr. William J. Collis and Mr. Md. Mokarrom Hossain.
