1) Including small-scale fisheries in national and regional development policies

While small-scale fisheries are the primary source of food and income for hundreds of millions of poor people in rural areas around the world, policy and management often work against the full realization of the benefits. This failure is true almost universally in developing countries. Research can help by providing the information that demonstrates how small-scale fisheries increase food security, generate livelihoods and deliver economic returns. Better methods of valuation aid analysis of trade-offs in different development options. WorldFish Center project outputs include:
