Bangladesh Agricultural University
The Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) was established in 1961 as the only university of its kind in Bangladesh and is now the premier agricultural research university in the country. The university is made up of six colleges, including programs in agricultural engineering and technology, veterinary science, agriculture, animal husbandry, agricultural economics and rural sociology, and fisheries. The university has approximately 5400 students, including undergraduates and postgraduates. BAU Research System (BAURES) was established in 1984, and since has completed 322 research projects with more than 100 still ongoing. Research funders include the IAEA, DfID, USAID and FAO.
