The Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) was established in 1976 by the Bangladeshi Government as the country’s premier autonomous agricultural research organization. BARI is the largest crop research institute in the country, conducting research on a wide variety of crops, as well as research into areas such as soil and crop management, water management and irrigation, post-harvest handling and socioeconomic studies related to production, processing, marketing and consumption. BARI is mandated by the government to undertake research to ensure a stable and productive agriculture sector, and to provide farmers with knowledge and tools to farm efficiently and profitably.
