The Bangladesh Fisheries Research Forum (BFRF) is a nonprofit, nonpolitical professional body of the Bangladeshi fisheries sector, with members representing universities, government agencies, NGOs, the private sector and other stakeholders committed to fisheries and aquatic resources development. BFRF was an outcome of the DFID-funded Support for University Fisheries Education and Research (SUFER) project implemented 1999-2003. The aim of SUFER was to support aquatic resource research and development, particularly in ways that would benefit the poor. BFRF serves as a complementary umbrella organization to the existing fisheries sector, aiming to serve the fisheries sector through enhancing collaboration among relevant stakeholders.
