The Battambang Provincial Department of Agriculture is a department of the provincial government of Battambang, and a branch of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of the Royal Government of Cambodia. MAFF is focused on expanding private-sector access to unused land for agricultural production and agro-processing, thereby increasing the national export base of processed products. Battambang Province is located in northwestern Cambodia and is one of the provinces included in the Tonle Sap Biosphere Reserve. The province is home to fertile rice fields, giving rise to a mostly agricultural economy and the moniker “the Rice Bowl of Cambodia.”
