David Mills leads WorldFish research efforts in Timor-Leste, a program covering coastal fisheries and inland aquaculture. He joined WorldFish in 2006 after 13 years conducting research on fisheries ecology (crustaceans and finfish) in Australia at CSIRO and the Tasmanian Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute. During his time at WorldFish, David has led research projects in Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Philippines, and Ghana, and conducted research in Indonesia, Senegal, Nigeria, Fiji and Sri Lanka. David’s own research interests include sustainable coastal livelihoods as well as fisheries governance and broader system sustainability issues. He has a degree in fisheries ecology and a PhD from the University of Tasmania.
