Dr. Joseph Nagoli is a Social Scientist for WorldFish, and the Research Lead for Malawi. His research focuses on understanding development pathways where aquaculture and fisheries builds capacities of people for resilient livelihoods in southern Africa. His published research is on governance of aquatic agricultural systems, integrated agriculture-aquaculture farming systems, conflicts over resource scarcity and vulnerabilities of fisherfolks to HIV and AIDS. Joseph has also contributed to national policies including the Malawi Aquaculture Gold Standards, Malawi Policy on Food and Nutritional Security, Malawi Presidential Initiative on Aquaculture Development, and the National HIV and AIDS Strategy in the Fisheries Sector.
