Sloans Kalumba
Country Director, Zambia and Tanzania

A former Director of Fisheries in Malawi, Sloans Chimatiro has played a leading role in the formulation of fisheries and aquaculture policy and governance programs across Africa. At WorldFish, he has been managing the Pan-African Fish Trade program, which is aimed at generating evidence to inform intra-regional fish trade in Africa. Before joining WorldFish, he was the Head of Fisheries at NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency, where he was responsible for the development of the African Union Policy Framework and Reform Strategy for Fisheries and Aquaculture, assisting African countries to design and implement fisheries policy and governance reforms and assisting African countries to integrate fisheries and aquaculture in the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP). He has also worked as manager for a number of development programs at regional and continental levels; and advising national fisheries institutions, as well as Regional Economic Communities and Regional Fisheries Bodies on issues of fisheries and aquaculture development.
