The Coastal Association for Social Transformation Trust (COAST) is a nongovernmental organization in Bangladesh that works to organize strategically important activities related to development, which in turn will facilitate the sustainable and equitable improvement of life, especially for women, children and disadvantaged populations of the nation’s coastal areas. COAST aims to educate coastal communities on disaster preparedness and survival, undertake humanitarian welfare services, and organize communities to be advocates for their own interests in the policy space. COAST was founded in 1998 near the mouth of the Bay of Bengal, an area frequently affected by tropical cyclones.
