The Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) leads and coordinates national agriculture and fisheries research and development in the Philippines. DA-BAR is committed to consolidating, strengthening and developing the agriculture and fisheries research and development system to improve its effectiveness and efficiency through work excellence, teamwork and networking, accountability, and innovation.
DA-BAR was created in 1987 by then President Corazon C. Aquino to address the lack of coordination and integration of agricultural research and development. The agency’s banner programs focus on food security, increased productivity and profitability, poverty eradication and people empowerment, sustainable agricultural development, and global competitiveness.
