Natural Environment Research Council

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is a British-based NGO that places science and research at the heart of responsible management of the world's increasingly threatened and fragile ecosystems. It strives to create the conditions whereby the world's increasing population can aspire to escape poverty by using the world's natural resources without degrading the environment. NERC promotes and supports basic, strategic and applied research, survey, long-term environmental observation and monitoring and related postgraduate training in environmental and related sciences. Its aim is to encourage and advance knowledge and innovation to contribute to the economy of the United Kingdom and the world.
