In this Pre-Summit Main Programme Session on ‘Steering the UN Food System Summit towards full integration of blue foods for health, wealth & ecological recovery,’ hosted under the leadership of the Food System Summit Secretariat, experts working across different aspects of global food systems convened to share and discuss game-changing solutions for improving food and nutrition security, health and income opportunities with foods from below water.

WorldFish’s Global Lead in Nutrition and Public Health, Shakuntala Thilsted, joined the expert panel, drawing on her expertise as Vice Chair of the Summit’s Action Track 4 on ‘Advancing Equitable Livelihoods,’ to share her insights on the importance of leveraging sustainable, low-trophic aquatic foods, from ocean to inland waterbodies, that provide highly nutritious diets while operating within planetary bounds.
