Over the past 12 months, the work of the UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) Action Tracks has proven that we all are decision-makers for food systems transformation. They have shown that we are all responsible for making the right choices. Youth is the most affected by today’s choices and yet they have the least say in those choices. A transformation is needed whereby youth are given leading roles in shaping fair, sustainable, resilient and equitable food systems, owing to their future and influence.

In this virtual convening of food system leaders, diverse youth representatives and the Action Track Chairs took stock of the UNFSS process of what have been discussed, learnt and actions needed to move the agenda forward. WorldFish’s Global Lead in Nutrition and Public Health Shakuntala Thilsted joined the session to draw on her role as the Vice Chair of Action Track 4 ‘Advancing equitable livelihoods,’ highlighting the importance of healthy, nutritious aquatic food diets for nourishing people and planet and share recommendations for prioritizing youth in the food systems decision-making moving forward.
