International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources
The Intational Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) is a membership union in Switzerland made up of government and civil society organizations. It is the global authority on the status and protection of the natural world. Formed in 1948, IUCN aims to unite human progress, economic development and nature conservation together by providing knowledge and tools—in the form of conservation data, assessments and analysis—to the public and private sectors as well as NGOs. It is the largest and most diverse global environmental network with approximately 1,300 member organizations and 1,600 experts worldwide.
