University of the Western Cape
The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is an academic institution in South Africa. It is committed to excellence in teaching, learning and research, nurturing the cultural diversity of South Africa, and responding in critical and creative ways to the needs of a transitioning society. The university's three primary concerns are: hope for South Africa, knowledge for the challenges of a modern world and a transforming society, and the will and the ability to be an agent of change. It was originally founded in 1959 as a college but became a university in 1970.
