The WorldFish mission is to strengthen livelihoods and enhance food and nutrition security by improving fisheries and aquaculture. WorldFish pursues this mission through research and development partnerships focused on helping those who stand to benefit the most: poor producers and consumers, women and children.

This annual report highlights some of our key achievements over the past year as we progress towards our impact targets. In Asia and Africa, our genetic improvement program took a major step forward with the use of genomic selection tools to introduce characteristics such as disease resistance and feed efficiency into our improved tilapia strains.

In this paper we aim to contribute to the literature on emerging and transforming aquaculture value chains in Africa by examining recent developments in the aquaculture sector in Zambia. The overall objective was to map the current value chain, describe the actors and stakeholders and understand the dynamics that have led to transformation in the value chain.
