The University of Rhode Island (URI) is the principal public university, as well as the land grant and sea grant university, for the state of Rhode Island. URI was established in 1892 as the Rhode Island College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, and currently offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in 79 undergraduate and 49 graduate areas of study through seven academic colleges. The university currently enrolls over 13,000 undergraduates and nearly 3000 graduate students.
