The World Vegetable Center
The World Vegetable Center (AVRDC) is an international nonprofit research and development institute committed to alleviating poverty and undernutrition in the developing world through the increased production and consumption of nutritious and health-promoting vegetables. AVRDC mobilizes resources from the public and private sectors to disseminate improved varieties and production methods in developing countries. AVRDC helps farmers increase vegetable harvests, raise incomes in poor households, create jobs and provide healthier, more nutritious diets for families and communities. AVRDC was founded in 1971 by the Asian Development Bank and partners to work in tropical Asia.
