In December 2016, WorldFish launched its new six-year strategy (2017–2022). The strategy aims to boost sustainable aquaculture production and small-scale fisheries in developing countries, at the same time helping many of the world’s poorest fishers and fish farmers exit poverty.

In the five-minute video interview below, WorldFish Director General Dr. Blake Ratner explains the research themes within the strategy and what’s new compared to previous years.

“Our research is about technology improvement. It’s about building the evidence for institution change, for policy change. So that these goals can be met efficiently and so that they can reach the broadest numbers,” explains Ratner.

“It’s a big agenda. And it’s one that we take very seriously,” he adds.
