In this Global Dialogue event hosted by FAO, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, leading experts from food system organizations worldwide came together to raise awareness of ongoing international policy processes on biodiversity. The discussion focussed on positioning food production sectors as key contributors to the sustainable management and custodianship of biodiversity.

On Wednesday, 7 July 2021, WorldFish’s Global Lead in Nutrition and Public Health, Shakuntala Thilsted drew on her expertise as Vice Chair of the Summit’s Action Track 4 on ‘Advancing Equitable Livelihoods’ to discuss why nutrition-sensitive aquatic foods must be prioritized in key food systems agenda to provide sustainable, healthy diets while ensuring food production systems operate within planetary bounds for all.

This event was a follow up to the Multi-stakeholder Dialogue on Biodiversity Mainstreaming across Agricultural Sectors co-organized by FAO and the CBD in 2018. Outputs from these meetings will feed into discussions on the development of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and the 15th Session of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity to be held in Kunming, China, next October 2021 (COP15).
