A virtual webinar exploring solutions to address research gaps in climate, biodiversity and natural resource management in the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).

Date: Tuesday, 7 September 2021

Time: 15:30-17:00 (UTC+8)

In this IUCN World Conservation Congress session hosted by Post-2020 Partnership, research experts from public and private environmental organizations gathered to discuss synergies between the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), a draft framework for managing nature, with global Sustainable Development actions on preserving and protecting nature and nations by 2030.

WorldFish’s Global Lead for Climate Resilience and Environmental Sustainability Mohammed, Essam (WorldFish) joined the expert panel to share current research gaps in the GBF, presenting the importance of aligning this framework with global commitments such as the Paris Agreement and the Decade for Ecological Restoration.

The panel also focused on ways to develop tools and resources to strengthen the emerging GBF to build awareness on the social implications of achieving 'nature positive' goals on the road to new global processes such as the UN Food Systems Summit, the UN Ocean Conference and the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).
