The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) 2022 Doctoral Award Ceremony celebrates those who have recently completed their doctoral studies, honorary doctors and jubilee doctors. It recognizes those who have contributed to our university in various ways. At the day's celebration, 25 jubilee doctors, 8 honorary doctors and 125 doctors by examination were awarded the signs of their doctoral dignity – the hat or the laurel wreath, the ring and the diploma.
Among the recipients was WorldFish's Global Lead for Nutrition and Public Health and the 2021 World Food Prize Laureate, Shakuntala Haraksingh Thilsted, who has been appointed as the honorary doctor at SLU's Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences. This appointment was in recognition of Thilsted's groundbreaking research work on the aquaculture of small fish species, and its potential to counteract malnutrition in women and children in low and middle-income countries.
