The 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be held in Katowice.

This year's summit will include Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 24), Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 14) and the Conference of Signatories to the Paris Agreement (CMA 1-3).

The key objective of the meeting is to adopt the implementation guidelines of the Paris Climate Change Agreement. To achieve the climate goals of the Paris Agreement we require dedicated efforts by all government levels as well as stakeholders from business and civil society. Especially cities and municipalities need to be recognized, engaged and enabled to fulfill their role as important climate actors. Despite the numerous existing climate initiatives, local mitigation and adaptation potentials are far from being exploited to the full. In this regard, coordination and cooperation across all government levels is key: multi-level climate governance is a crucial element to implementing the Paris Agreement.

At COP24, CGIAR will showcase how its research is increasing resilience and mitigating risk of climate change across five transformative areas: nutrition, environmental, information, genetic, and social and economic. CGIAR Research Centers, Programs and Platforms will also be participating in a number of side events. See the COP24 website for the schedule.

If you are at COP24, visit the CGIAR booth, #53 in the Spodek Arena.
