The training course on EAFM is a 5-day training program that aims to provide basic knowledge on ecosystem approach to fisheries management and how this can assist in the decision making for responsible and sustainable fisheries in the country. This represents a move away from fisheries management system that focus only on sustainable harvest of target species setting aside the decision-making processes that balance ecological and human well-being within an improved governance framework. The trainer that conducted the training have successfully completed a similar course and the EAFM- Training of Trainers and had conducted several training in the Philippines and in other countries. The training was successfully conducted at Golden Tulip Hotel, Banani, Dhaka, Bangladesh on June 16-20, 2019 with the support of Ms. Israt Zahura, the Training Specialist of ECOFISH-Bangladesh who has completed the training course last year. It was attended by twenty nine (29) participants from the different universities in Bangladesh, Department of Fisheries (DoF), BFRI Officials, NGO and ECOFISH staff concerned in fisheries management in the country.
