African aquaculture production has gradually increased over the years, but progress is still slow. In an upcoming virtual webinar hosted by Aquaculture Africa Magazine in partnership with WorldFish, aquaculture experts Heike Baumüller, John Walakira and Etienne Hinrichsen came together to discuss the factors that play a part in the productivity of Africa's aquaculture sector, including its water availability, access to capture fisheries resources, population size and natural resource endowment.

Drawing from a recent paper 'Prospects for Aquaculture Development in Africa: A review of past performance to assess future potential,' the invited speakers presented findings from assessing African countries’ performance with regard to the role of aquaculture as a source of food supply and the need for sustainably developing the sector for improved food, nutrition and income security.
