2024
2024 has been a year of innovation, collaboration and impact for AABS. From scaling aquatic food innovations to strengthening small-scale fisheries and promoting sustainable aquaculture, we’ve published key articles on topics ranging from tackling fish loss and waste in Tanzania, to advancing nature-positive aquaculture in Kenya and Nigeria, while releasing insightful project briefs and engaging in global knowledge exchanges.

2025 · January-March
At the end of Year 2 of Asia–Africa BlueTech Superhighway (AABS), the project has progressed aquatic food solutions—driving innovation, fostering South–South collaboration and setting the stage for further impact. Highlights include a side-event at Ocean Innovation Africa 2025, working to advance aquatic food solutions in five target countries, and translating a wealth of resources into local languages.
WorldFish AABS Q1, Year 3 Highlight
2025 · April-June
In the first quarter of Year 3, AABS participated in the United Nations Ocean Conference 2025, AABS Annual Planning and Partners meeting, and WorldFish 50th Anniversary Science Fair. AABS continued work to advance aquatic food solutions in five target countries and launched a film series showcasing its approach—which aims to leverage South–South collaboration to deliver a triple win for nature, people and climate.

2025 · July–September
In the second quarter of Year 3, AABS collaborated with the TV series Shamba Shape Up, worked together with Tany Cooperative, conducted a new baseline study on IMTA, participated in the Zanzibar Fishers' Forum, and hosted a high-level delegation visit. AABS also continued to build a wealth of knowledge-sharing resources.

In the third quarter of Year 3, AABS conducted a scoping study on gleaning activities in Mozambique, published a new AABS-supported practitioner’s guide, and continued to expand opportunities for women and youth in coastal Kenya.
