ReefBase publishes good practice guide for coral reef protection

2 minutes read

ReefBase has introduced the GEF Lessons Learned and Good Practices Toolkit (GEF LL Toolkit), an extensive resource for researchers and resource managers seeking help and advice to boost effective coral reef management.

The GEF LL Toolkit offers access to technical reports, project summaries and other practical information in eight key areas of coral reef management:

  • Project Design
  • Project Management
  • Community Participation
  • Partnerships & Linkages
  • Policy, Legislation & Enforcement
  • Ecosystem-based Management
  • Monitoring & Evaluation of Coral Reef Management
  • Capacity, Education & Knowledge Management

The project aims to identify, analyze, and translate lessons drawn from completed projects into good practices and information resources, and then disseminate this information globally for use in future project design and development.

Updates will be made each quarter in order to provide the latest information on coral reef management.

The GEF LL Toolkit is available on-line and also as a regular email mail out. The tools are also available through an interactive CD-ROM.

The GEF LL project was funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and is carried out in partnership with International Waters Learning Exchange and Resource Network (IW:Learn), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Conservation International (CI), Reef Check, International Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN), Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Reefbase is a WorldFish project.
